Sun Fook Kong Wins the Best Site Condition Award and the Lowest Reportable Accident Frequency Rate Award Againarrow
(Hong Kong, 26 September 2012) Sun Fook Kong once again won the Best Site Condition Award and the Lowest Reportable Accident Frequency Rate Award in the “Quality, Safety and Environmental Awards Presentation Ceremony” for its outstanding performance in the “West Island Line Contract No. 701 – Modification of Sheung Wan Station” .

The ceremony was organized by the MTR Corporation to present the first bi-annual awards in 2012 for its contractors that had achieved high standard of quality management performance. The bi-annual competition aims at encouraging its contractors to implement effective quality management systems, to provide quality works and service and to develop strong safety culture.

Sun Fook Kong keeps enhancing its site management and site cleanliness; it won the Best Site Condition Award with the highest average scores for its site conditions in the monthly physical condition checks. Besides, it is evidenced that the Group does care about the workers’ health and safety, as well as performs well in managing its hygiene and welfare facilities; it won the Lowest Reportable Accident Frequency Award by achieving the lowest cumulative reportable accident frequency rate during the assessment period.

“MTR West Island Line Contract No. 701 – Modification of Sheung Wan Station” had commenced in April, 2010. The scope of work included the installation of new rail tracks and overhead power lines, new passenger lifts, enlargement of the East Concourse and improvement works to the station facilities. By its excellence in maintaining the site quality management system, the works was completed 3 months earlier than the original completion date and the new section of the Sheung Wan Station was officially opened on 26 August 2012.

Sun Fook Kong believes the maintenance of good site environment is essential to boost the morale of workers, and in return push up the work efficiency. The Group will collaborate with the industry to achieve the ultimate goal, “zero accident”.
